Tymbal believes that free improvisation is an essential part of a balanced auditory diet, and it doesn’t get any more nutritious or delicious than Bad Jazz. This trio of sensitive, thoughtful improvisors and visionary instrument designers take us into territories that have yet to be mapped, while frequently using harmonic or rhythmic anchors to remind us where we have been. Bad Jazz formed in late 2014, first performing huddled around a card table at the NorCal Noise Fest in Sacramento. After a session with Bryan's Nebraska-based project Seeded Plain, the trio performed their second show at Studio Grand in Oakland. After the show, they decided on the name Bad Jazz.
